Volkswagen during it’s talks to their worker union has come up with an agreement that BlackBerry e-mail will start coming in only 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after their shifts. This is not a company-wide implementation as senior staff which need to answer e-mails round the clock will still receive e-mails night and day.

This is an issue of whether companies could require their employees to answer to their superiors round the clock and while some employees have grown accustomed to the practice, there’s still an issue of professionalism and if employees need to be compensated when they practically give themselves to the growth of the company every hour of the day.
